Official sources and effective dates

Official data comes from the National Bank of Georgia. We separate rates in force today from those published for tomorrow. Under the publication rules, new rates appear on business days no later than 17:00 Tbilisi time and take effect the next day.

We check the source every five minutes from 16:30 to 19:30 on weekdays and hourly otherwise. Without a new publication, the last applicable rate continues. Site times use Tbilisi time (UTC+4).

Bank and exchange-office quotes

Data comes from the provider’s official website or public feed. We check sources every 5–30 minutes between 08:00 and 21:00 and every 30 minutes at night. Each provider page states its interval. A confirmation time does not mean the price changed at that moment.

Branch and app rates are separated where both are published. Values pass automated checks; an invalid or suspicious reading leaves the last confirmed value visible with its own time.

Fresh, stale and missing data

  • Quotes confirmed within 60 minutes count as fresh.
  • Quotes older than 60 minutes are labelled stale and excluded from best-rate selection.
  • Quotes older than 24 hours are hidden from comparisons.

A blank value is not a zero rate. A missing source does not establish that the provider cannot exchange that currency.

What “best rate” means

Best-rate selection uses the site’s fresh cash quotes: the highest buy price and the lowest sell price. It does not cover every provider in Georgia, every branch, individual offers or separate fees.

The bank and exchange-office comparisons are ordered by rate; the home page uses a fixed provider order.

Converter calculations

The converter accounts for the quantity in official quotes. Selecting a provider uses fresh cash rates: buy for foreign currency to GEL, sell in reverse. Cross-currency calculations go through GEL; a direct commercial cross-rate may differ.

Separate fees are excluded. A shared converter link saves the amount and currencies, not the selected provider.

Archive coverage and averages

The archive starts in 1996, but each currency’s history depends on available data. Early years cover fewer currencies. The archive holds official rates, not past bank offers.

Monthly and yearly averages use calendar days, including rates carried over non-working days. An incomplete period includes only the available days.

Cryptoasset prices

USD prices come from CoinGecko, with CoinPaprika as a fallback. Checks run every 10 minutes. GEL prices equal the USD price multiplied by today’s official dollar rate. The 24-hour percentage change refers to the USD price.

Corrections and contact

To report an error or contact us as a provider, write to info@myvaluta.ge. Include the page, currency, date, time and branch or app channel. Requests to correct data, add a source or remove a listing can also be sent through the contact form.

Confirm the final amount and terms with the provider before exchanging. The site does not reserve quotes or carry out exchanges.
